Downtown Greenville: Clear sky, 37.4 °F
May/June 2010
Gone Fishin'
You might love ’em or leave ’em, or you might not even know about them, but among the South’s most indelible (and edible) distinctions are its fish camps. We in fact have a slew in South Carolina, many right here in the Upstate. And no matter your bend, their wave of popularity sweeps high and mighty. Nothing fishy about it.
Boone, North Carolina
More than a destination for ski bums and App-State students, Boone boasts big arts, eats, and maybe the best coffee this side of Italy
Knoxville, Tennessee
Knoxville’s rocky mountaintops are studded with fine Tennessee cuisine and a bustling arts scene
Drs. David and Susan Shi
Dr. David Shi, outgoing president of Furman University, and his wife, Dr. Susan Shi, have extended their reach beyond campus borders
David N. Edwards, Jr.
Executive director of Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport: Dave Edwards has flown in planes for most of his life, but he hasn’t taken a jump—yet.
DellaVentura’s Ristorante and Pizzeria
If friends had not introduced me to DellaVentura’s, I doubt I would ever have stumbled across it on my own.
Tally Parham
Tally Parham is a study in contrasts: growing up, she took ballet, but also Okinawan karate.
Full Steam Ahead
This May, Greenville will celebrate the completion of the ten-mile stretch that follows the old Swamp Rabbit railway, connecting the city to Travelers Rest.
Sense of Direction
There’s something you should probably know about cartographer (that’s “map maker” to you and me) Paul Galbreath: He’s secretly hoping you’ll make a mess of his newest creation, the Upstate South Carol
Fine Swine Wine
Wine with pork barbecue? Sure, why not? Take a cue from Childress Vineyards in Lexington, North Carolina
Full Bloom
As the weather warms, winter’s big red wines become less appealing. Why not highlight the bouquet of spring and early summer with the floral, aromatic notes of warm-weather whites?
If Walls Could Talk
It seems only fitting that one of downtown Greer’s most historic structures now houses thousands of artifacts depicting the city’s history.
