This Wade Hampton High graduate and Clemson University All-American talks about competing on the PGA Tour, cheering for his beloved Tigers, and some of his favorite local courses for chasing the little white ball.

1. No. 14 at the Chanticleer Course at Greenville Country Club is my favorite golf hole in Greenville. The course is a Robert Trent Jones design, and that hole is a par 3, which is 171 yards from the championship tee.

2. My grandfather was definitely the most influential person on my career. He played football and baseball at Clemson, but he also introduced me to golf.

3. Being inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame was very special. My grandfather and I are the only grandson/grandfather to share that honor.

4. At Clemson, my best memory was when our team was in contention for the national championship—my freshman and senior years.

5. Clemson football is my addiction.

6. When I think back to my Wade Hampton High School experience, my best memories are of the state tournament each year.

7. When I talk about growing up in Greenville, I usually tell people how much smaller it was then than it is now.

8. The day I figured out that having fun made it easier to play well—that was my “aha” moment on the PGA Tour.

9. Tiger Woods is the greatest athlete under pressure that I have ever seen.

10. The professional golfer I envy the most is whoever won the week before.

11. My favorite stop on the PGA Tour is at Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, which hosts the Verizon Heritage golf tournament. It’s also the tour’s only stop in South Carolina.

12. When I come home to Greenville, I never miss a chance to play golf with any of my friends who are in town.

13. The best thing about playing on the PGA Tour is the opportunity to see the country.

14. The business side of golf is confusing.

15. My first hole-in-one was a practice round in Atlanta, during my rookie year on tour in 2004.

16. The first time I played in the Masters I was extremely nervous.

17. Right now, I’m working on holing more mid-range putts.

18. Traveling with the PGA Tour is more of a grind than I think most people realize.

19. My putter. That’s got to be my favorite golf club. It’s the new Unitized Nike putter with grooves and an insert.

20. One golf course for the rest of my life—I would have to choose Winged Foot, a 36-hole course in Mamaroneck, New York. It’s actually two par-72 courses, and it’s the only club in the nation with two courses ranked in the top 100 by Golf Digest.
