Song Bird
I first saw k.d. lang in 1989 when she was touring to support her then new release Absolute Torch and Twang. I remember the performance being stunning–her stage presence and vocal talents held the audience in awe.
A huge fan of Patsy Cline, and with comparable vocal talents (she even named her band the Reclines in tribute to Cline), Lang delivers a sultry combination of country and adult contemporary pop. She recently released a new CD, Watershed on which she serves as producer, writer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist for this work of new, original songs. Critics say this is perhaps “Lang's most confident and revealing work, with gorgeous arrangements featuring strings and guitars; distilled lyrics that come across as intimate reveries; and warm, understated, and often very sexy vocal performances.” I highly recommend this show, which should not to be missed
k.d. lang brings her wonderful sounds to The Peace Center in Greenville on Thursday, April 9 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $65 and $45. For ticket information call (864) 467-3000 or visit www.peacecenter.org.
That’s my “G” pick for the week. Hope to see you there.
