Downtown Greenville: Clear sky, 39.2 °F
During the inauguration ceremonies in January, President Obama made a remark that holds special meaning to those of us here at G Magazine. Although the context for his remark was aimed at encouraging countries with different views than ours, what he said is something we can all use to better our lives. He said, “It’s not what you tear down or destroy . . . you will be measured by what you build.”
G Magazine is proud to honor a group of special individuals and companies that strive to “build” a better place. These are the folks who work to make Greenville a better place by giving back and, with that, build a better community. This is how they choose to be measured.
This week, we honor what they have built – through benevolent spirit, philanthropic endeavors, creative spirit, community service, reader’s input, and a very special lifetime of giving back award.
G Magazine aims to be an integral part of the community and, with assistance from the Community Foundation of Greenville, we are proud to support the many exemplary efforts of the Upstate’s philanthropic community. Particularly during these challenging times, it’s truly a pleasure to honor and celebrate those who demonstrate leadership through giving.
Join us in celebrating G Magazine’s Giving Back Awards on Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. at Zen, 924 South Main Street. Tickets are $25. For ticket information, call (864) 335-0600 or visit www.gvillemag.com.
That’s my “G” pick for the week. Hope to see you there.
